Banana Blueberry Protein Smoothie
This smoothie is loaded with healthy fats and great nutrients, making it the perfect creamy smoothie to start the day.
You will need:
- frozen banana: use a ripe banana, the more ripe the banana, the sweeter the smoothie. If you do not have frozen bananas you can always use fresh fruit, but you will need to add some ice to the blender when blending;
- vanilla almond milk: depending on the ingredients included in the almond milk you may prefer to opt for a plain almond milk and simply add some vanilla extract yourself. Alternatively you can use another plant-based milk of choice like coconut milk or soy milk if you prefer;
- oats: use rolled oats, and be sure to check the ingredient label if you want this smoothie to be gluten-free;
- vanilla protein powder: be sure to check the ingredients of the protein powder you intend to use as some can be loaded with extra sugars;
- blueberries: fresh or frozen blueberries or wild blueberries can be used. Just be sure to add some extra ice if you use fresh blueberries or the smoothie will not be cold enough after blending;
- vanilla extract: this is an optional extra and gives the smoothie some additional sweetness to make it taste like pancakes, if you prefer to leave it out you absolutely can;

- ice cubes: add extra ice to make sure the smoothie is nice and cold. This is especially important if you have used fresh banana and blueberries instead of frozen.
If you do not have frozen bananas or raspberries, be sure to add a cup of ice to the smoothie mixture when blending.
How To Make A Protein Smoothie
As is the case with most smoothies, this one is pretty simple to make.
We are going to add everything to the blender and blend until all of the ingredients have combined and the mixture is smooth and creamy.

- add a tablespoon of whole flax seeds or ground flaxseed;
- add a dollop of plain yogurt or Greek yogurt.
How To Serve Your Banana Blueberry Smoothie
Once the smoothie is blended and smooth serve it in a smoothie cup or in a tall glass or mason jar.
Top with some extra blueberries and a sprinkle of oats.
If you plan on packing for work or lunch be sure to serve it in a glass jar with an airtight lid to prevent leakages.
What to do with leftover smoothie
Leftover smoothies should be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
The banana may become extra sweet if left for too long.
